workgroup windows 98

Workgroup with Windows 98

I have been unable to get Windows 98 pc's to network (share files and printer) with Vista. Has anyone had any luck with this?
The network is a simple peer to peer workgroup (not using domain). I established a user account on Visa with the same username/login as the Windows 98 pc, but cannot get the IPC$ log-in to authenticate. I can read, but not write to the Windows 98 files from the Visa PC. I lowered the Lan Manager Authentication to "Send LM & NTLM -use NTLMv2 session secuity if negotiated", but that didn't help. The Vista pc is dual boot with Windows XP and there are no issues sharing Win98 with XP.

Sad,but true -- old laptop and one desktop that runs two work specific programs -- one program is still DOS!
